Summerland Rotary Club had 12 Rotarians and guests attend the Rotary District 5060 JUMP RIGHT IN! "Footprints, Fellowship & Fund" Conference in Yakima in May 2016

That's right!!! Time is running out.  District Governor Vern Nielsen is hoping to see you all at Conference 2017, April 28-30 in Kelowna.  Registration is already ~same as the average of the previous 4 years of Conferences, so we expect to SELL OUT!  That is no surprise, since we have a line-up of fun, fellowship, and keynote speakers all of whom could be the feature at the International Assembly or (as many have) on TED-Talk stages!

As DG Vern has toured the district, the feedback from you all has indicated that a majority from every club would like to join us.  Good choice, but note that currently the percentage of club members for each area that have registered is:

Area 1 - 9%          Area 5 - 28%          Area 9 - 5%
  Area 2 - 5%          Area 6 - 21%          Area 10 - 2%
Area 3 - 6%          Area 7 - 8%           Area 11 - 4%
Area 4 - 7%          Area 8 - 5%           Area 12 - 4%

I know from the above that there are a lot of you planning to register who have not done it yet.  Not only will the conference sell out, but the block of discounted rooms ($175 Cdn/night) at the Delta Grand Resort (by Marriott) will be gone within the next 2-3 weeks (if not sooner)!  The Delta Grand has been named one of the "Top 5 Waterfront Resorts" in all of Canada, so you want to stay there with us.

And now another teaser!  A little on one more of our distinguished keynote speakers, Amanda Wirtz...
Amanda Wirtz is a Chicago native who studied in Stockholm, Sweden, for a year as a Rotary Exchange Student.  After that she graduated from the Center for Information Dominance, earning the highest recognition as top graduate before serving six years as a Cryptologic Analyst for Naval Intelligence.  Amanda supported military, counter-narcotics and search and rescue operations in Florida, Spain, Canada, and Washington DC.  In addition she served twice in combat in both Iraq and Yugoslavia.  During the years that followed she faced seemingly insurmountable health challenges.  Resolved to fight for her own future, she began building hope for herself and others.  The countless community outreach projects that she has inspired both within the U.S. and abroad have resulted in her recognition including Rotary’s “Selfless Service Award”, and the California State Assembly Veteran of the Year for 2011.  The founder and a charter member of the world’s first Facebook-based Rotary club, Amanda will be our Saturday evening banquet speaker and entertainer.

See you in April!!
