What?
Spring Roundup is our first trial of a new way to improve our Rotary Clubs while having fun at the same time!  Our “Preliminary” sign-up form generated enough interest that we are going to run the event this year!  Thanks to our local hosts the Rotary Club of Summerland for setting this up for us.

When & Where?
Saturday 27 May
Meeting: 10:00am – 2:00pm
Summerland Secondary School,
9518 Main St, Summerland BC
Social: 2:30 ~ 5:00pm
Venue to-be-determined

Who should come??
  • Presidents-Elect – FOR SURE you want to join this, make sure the planning you started at prePETS and PETS gets finalized and your teams ready for action.
  • Committee Chairs and Board Members – FOR SURE you want to be here to share best practices with your colleagues from around the District!
  • Club Presidents, Past Presidents & District Leaders – FOR SURE you want to be here to help all our Clubs be the best they can, and perhaps explore what is next for you!
  • New Rotarians – FOR SURE you want to be here to share some of your ideas and hear from others about how Rotary can serve you while you serve others!
  • OK, so just about everybody!
How?
Register (link-button below) and pay for the event ($20), and promote it to your club!  You will register in 1 of the 7 categories listed below, and that will determine which group you get together with for your “Breakout” session.  Groups have no restrictions about what they talk about, so come ready to share (and learn) some great ideas!  Best results will be achieved if 5-10 come from each club and cover several of the topic discussions.

Agenda
10:00-11:00     Group session - Facilitated
Discussion of where our clubs are and how best to move them forward.  Topics may include goals (and setting them on Rotary Club Central), action planning, membership growth, fellowship and how we can do better.

11:00-1:00       Breakout – Discussion Leader
This will be for whomever is in each group to discuss “best practices”.  This is NOT TRAINING, rather this is collaborative development.  What has worked for your club? What can be done better?  Explore ways to develop multi-club interactions.  NOTE: Breakouts may be combined depending on registration interest, we will have a minimum of 6-10 in each group to ensure a good discussion.  Casual Lunch will be available during this time.

1:00-2:00         Group session – Facilitated
Each breakout will present a “report” (max 5 minutes).  Conclude the meeting portion of the day with facilitated group discussion about next steps… “The Big Rocks” in the jar!

2:30-5:00         Social get-together – the Roundup!
Details still being worked out, but our “host” Summerland Rotary Club will organize a venue for a BBQ “early dinner” gathering.  Bring your families along and lets enjoy some multi-club Rotary fellowship with our friends from this portion of the District.  Club Members from the same town can car-pool to Summerland for the 10:00am meeting, and family members can car-pool down to join us at 2:30.  There will likely be a cost of ~20 per person, you will get details closer to the date.

Breakout Session Topics
  1. Club Leader - President, PE, VP and others considering the executive leadership of your club.  Goals for next year will be reviewed and if required finalized.
  2. Club Secretary – Find out what has been working for Club Secretaries in other clubs.  Discuss ClubRunner, rotary.org and Rotary Club Central.  NOT JUST for Secretaries, but anybody interested in organizational structure and data maintenance for your Clubs.
  3. Membership – “Rotary’s No. 1 Priority” according to General Secretary John Hewko.
  4. Public Image – Won’t get new members if we don’t get better at telling the world about who and what we are!
  5. Foundation and International Service -  Centennial year is 2017, so both the current and the next Rotary year!  Raising more than $1.5M US dollars this year for our twin Million-Dollar-Dinners was a huge accomplishment!  How can our clubs keep this momentum and grow further?
  6. Community Service – 90% of Rotarians join and stay for Friendship, Fellowship, and local service.  We can never be too conscious of what we are doing here!
  7. Rotary 101 – Brand new to Rotary?  Maybe not-so-new but just want to get a “bigger picture” of what Rotary is?  This open sharing will be like a mini “Rotary Leadership Institute” where we explore all the exciting

Cheers,

***NOTE:  This first "Spring Roundup!" is a trial event for a session which may in the future run in 4 different venues all over the District.  The events are all supposed to be an easy drive for combining a planning meeting with a multi-club social event, all on one day.  Because this is the only event happening this year it is open to any Rotarian in D5060.
