Posted by Chantelle Meriam on Aug 22, 2016
On Saturday, August 20, The Summerland Rotary Club sponsored the first annual Rotary Ogopogo Sand Sculpting Contest in support of the Great Ogopogo Bath Tub Race. The race raises money towards the expansion of the Penticton Regional Hospital Foundation and is sponsored by the Summerland Yacht Club.
Rotarian, Toni Boot, presents Del Riemer, and his grandchildren, with a prize at the first annual Rotary Ogopogo Sand Sculpting Contest.
The Summerland Rotary Club was represented by Toni Boot, Karl Siedel, Garry Hollingshead, Preston Mott, Lisa Jaager and Shawn Hume. Marijana Komljenovic came to help with the tough job of judging!
Powell Beach was packed with spectators and vendors... there was food, drink and live music. A great crowd for the race! The Rotary Sand Sculpting contest had 9 entries and choosing the winners was a tough job. Kudos to the children and families for the hard work and creativity.
A great day was had. Additional photos from the event can be viewed here.
