Top Guns in Public Speaking Contest
Seen above are the top participants in the recent 2016 School District #67/Rotary Public Speaking Contest from Penticton Secondary School, Princess Margaret Secondary School and Summerland Secondary School.

School District 67/Rotary Public Speaking Competition was an enlightening event organized by SD#67 and the Summerland Rotary Club and Penticton Rotary Club on April 12, 2016. Emceeing this event were Summerland Blossom Pageant Candidates Miss Avery Law Office, Sarah Gottwald and Miss IGA, Khush Saran.
 
This competition showcased students of School District 67 and gave them an opportunity to present their public speaking skills enhancing their professional and personal development.
 
Speakers were critiqued by a panel of judges marking poise, gestures, eye contact, voice projection, fluency, control and overall performance. Judges were lawyer, Paul Varga; Summerland Municipal Councillor, Toni Boot; and past BC Debating Coach, Charlotte Burley.
 
Congratulations to all the contestants who participated in the success of this event and captivated our audience.
 
The top selected public speakers were: Grade 10 category, all from Summerland Secondary--Natalie Benoit (First Place), Grant Mansiere (Second Place) and Helena Mott (Third Place).  Grade 11 category -- Victoria Ritchie (First Place) of Penticton Secondary, Aliya Van Bergeyk (Second Place) of Summerland Secondary and Jeff Swetlikoe (Third Place) of Princess Margaret Secondary. Grade 12 category--all from Summerland Secondary--Dan Nixon (First Place), Sylvia Mott (Second Place) and Teagen Kew (Third Place).
