The Shelterbox Team at the Summerland Light Up on Friday, November 25th

Summerland Light Up was the first of many events for the students Shelterbox team! Rotary International has partnered with Shelterbox Canada as one of the main goals this year. Shelterbox itself is a disaster relief program, helping communities, and families survive after natural disaster by providing essential tools and shelter. Our Rotary Youth Exchange students have made multiple teams through 5060. The Okanagan has a great enthusiastic group of kids made up of inbounds, outbounds and rebounds. You could hear them cheering singing and dancing at their booster tent at light up as they spread awareness and raise funds. They seemed to make many friends and be quite popular while also raising a good sum of money. Their goal this year is to send out 4 Boxes which are $1200 each.

You can follow the enthusiastic bunch of kids on Facebook and Instagram to learn more about the students and about the program itself as well as look for future fundraisers! https://www.facebook.com/rotaryshelterboxvirtus/?fref=ts and Okanagan Shelterbox.
